Conor Shine is the new aviation reporter at the Dallas Morning News, replacing the retired Terry Maxon.

Assistant business editor Peter Johnson writes, “It’s not quite the same as following in the footsteps of Roger Staubach or Peyton Manning, though Terry did leave big shoes to fill.

“But Conor clearly is up to the task. Like Terry, he’s got an inquisitive mind, a thirst for knowledge and a desire to build a relationship with his audience. Thankfully he does not have Terry’s endless supply of corny jokes.

“Conor arrived at the Morning News in September after four years covering local government and politics for the Las Vegas Sun. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, he spent his youth in the ‘Air Capital of the World’ — Wichita, Kansas — where he met lots of people who help build planes.

“In this beat, Conor will cover all aspects of Southwest and American airlines – their strategies, their performance, their routes, their fares, their employees and their profit or losses. He’ll also cover our two airports, aviation trends and the overall travelling experience.”
