Dallas Morning News business columnist Mitch Schnurman will also write editorials the the editorial page.
Keven Ann Willey of the Morning News writes, “Effective Jan. 4, Metro columnists Jack Floyd and James Ragland and business columnist Mitch Schnurman – already among the most accomplished writers at The News – will bring their talents to the editorial board as part-time editorial writers.
“Column fans have no fear: Their columns remain their top priority. We’re just asking them to help enrich the diversity of ideas we editorialize on and deepen our institutional commentary on business issues. Helping to research and write editorials should also enhance their column-writing experiences.
“Here’s how the Editor Mike Wilson described the change in an email to staff earlier this month:
Colleagues,
Beginning in January, columnists Jacquielynn Floyd, James Ragland and Mitchell Schnurman will become members of the editorial board, working with our fourth-floor colleagues to form The News’ institutional views.
Their work with the board will be part-time; they’ll attend some meetings and write a couple of editorials a month. This will allow Jack, James and Mitch write their usual columns for the web and for the Metro and Business sections. (They’ll continue to report to their current bosses in the newsroom.)”
