Dallas Business Journal hires finance reporter from Politico

Jon Prior

Dallas Business Journal editor Jeff Schnick sent out the following staff hire announcement on Friday:

I’m pleased to announce that Jon Prior will be coming aboard as our finance reporter later this month.

Since 2012, Jon has served as a financial services reporter for Politico. While in D.C., he has covered consumer banking policy, regulatory topics, monetary policy and housing finance.

Before that, he was with HousingWire as a senior reporter, where he tackled the mortgage industry’s recovery in the wake of the financial crisis. Prior to that, Jon had newsroom stints in Longview and Lake Cities.

A 2009 graduate of UNT’s Mayborn School of Journalism, Jon is returning to North Texas, bringing with him a body of work and experience to a critical beat that our audience values. He has won multiple awards in his career, including notable accolades from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (Best Explanatory Feature, 2012) and the National Association of Real Estate Editors (Feature writing, 2011).

His official start date will be June 27. Please join me in welcoming him to the Dallas Business Journal team!
