Dallas Business Journal editor Jeff Schnick sent out the following announcement to his staff on Wednesday:

I’m pleased to announce that Brian Womack will be joining the newsroom later this month as our new technology reporter.

Brian brings 18 years of business reporting experience to the Business Journal, most of it as a technology journalist at several organizations, including most recently at Bloomberg.

From in-depth investigations to breaking news, Brian’s deep pool of sources and a knack for diving into filings allowed him to tackle a wide range of topics, including M&A, exits and complex restructurings.

As one of Bloomberg’s reporters in San Francisco, he spent nine years covering companies such as Alphabet, eBay, Facebook, HP, Oracle, Twitter and Yahoo. Since Silicon Valley fell within his coverage area, Brian isn’t a stranger to startups, innovation and disruption, which will serve him well in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Prior to that, he was as a reporter at Investor’s Business Daily, the Orange County Business Journal and the Dayton Business Journal. He graduated with a B.A. in journalism from the University of Oregon in 1996.

Brian’s tenacity will ensure that the DBJ remains DFW’s go-to source for tech coverage as our newsroom continues to evolve to meet the needs of our executive audience.

While some aspects of our core beats will never change — identifying key leaders, consistently breaking news and delivering exclusive B2B content – Brian’s versatility and expertise will allow us to add new coverage concepts across our digital, event and print platforms.

We’re thrilled to have him join our team and he’s eager to start: his first day will be Wednesday, April 18.

Please join me in welcoming him to the DBJ and to North Texas!
