Daily Herald revamps online biz section

The Chicago Daily Herald has redesigned its online business section to make it more friendly for investors, according to a story by Anna Marie Kukec.

Kukec wrote, “New to the site is a ticker-like scroll that runs left to right along the top. Click on the index name and a hotlink directs you immediately to a full page devoted to that index’s intra-day chart, historical data and other information. For example, the Chi Index features the Daily Herald’s Top 40 local companies, including Motorola Inc., UAL Corp., Abbott Laboratories and more.

“Market staples include the Standard & Poor 500, the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, and Nasdaq Stock Exchange as well as natural gas, crude oil and gold, among others.

“In addition, the site offers the CEO Wealthmeter to track what the holdings of top executives are worth, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings for public corporations, and downloadable podcasts.

“There’s also a handy search engine to find your favorite stock and get real-time numbers.

“Go to the lower left side of the page and you’ll find The Daily Herald Market Index. Just point your cursor to your preferred market and you’ll see the graphic quickly change. Or you can look up any other index just as quickly.”
