D Magazine has made 15 staff members redundant including editors, designers, salespeople and administrative staff. The other 67 employees will be taking pay cuts based on their income, said D Magazine’s editor Tim Rogers.
These employees span across the company’s other magazines, including D CEO, D Home, D Weddings and some also belong to its online channels.
“It’s a strange fact of our times, but right now, our audience is larger than ever. Newsstand sales in grocery stores are booming. Online traffic is way up,” Rogers said. “But as large and small businesses in North Texas cut every cost they can, our ad revenue has taken a hit.”
He further adds the decision comes as a response to the economic downturn caused by the virus. However, Rogers encouraged people hiring to consider those looking for new jobs with D on their résumés.
