D CEO names new publisher

Josh Schimmels has been named publisher of D CEO magazine and its business media group titles.

Those other titles include the news sites D Healthcare Daily and D Real Estate Daily, along with the D Real Estate Annual and other ancillary publications.

Schimmels comes to Dallas from California, where he served as associate publisher and vice president of the Los Angeles Business Journal and San Fernando Valley Business Journal. In his nearly six years there, he significantly expanded revenue at both publications and created a national advertising platform. He also grew annual event attendance from 1,700 to 9,500 by developing new programs and improving existing ones.

Previously, Schimmels was vice president of business development at AZ Big Media, the company behind Arizona Business Magazine. There, he oversaw commercial operations for six statewide publications and two annual expositions. He began his media career as an advertising sales rep at the San Fernando Valley Business Journal in 1999.

“It’s very exciting to join D CEO Magazine as its publisher,” Schimmels said in a statement. “The award-winning publication has built a strong reputation, both regionally and nationally, for its provocative and insightful coverage of business and leadership. With the strength of the local and statewide economy, Dallas continues to thrive, and I look forward to serving such a vibrant business community.”
