Cybersecurity reporter Fazzini departing CNBC

Kate Fazzini, who has been covering cybersecurity for CNBC since June 2018, his leaving the news organization.

She covered corporate hacking, cybercrimes and the effort to keep people’s information private.

“I am looking forward to some very interesting new projects in the security space, which has always been my first love. I’ve greatly enjoyed my time in journalism, learned so much and admired everyone’s work, especially during this very, very difficult time,” she wrote on LinkedIn.

Fazzini also worked as a cybersecurity reporter for The Wall Street Journal and WSJ Pro Cybersecurity, the newspaper’s professional security vertical.

Prior to working as a journalist, she was a principal in the cybersecurity practice at Washington D.C.-based Promontory Financial Group, now a division of IBM. She formerly served as a vice president in cybersecurity operations at JPMorgan Chase, working at its New York-based security operations center.

She is the author of the 2019 book “Kingdom of Lies: Unnerving Adventures in the World of Cybercrime.”
