Blake Sobczak has been hired as managing editor of README, a new digital cybersecurity publication.
He will start Oct. 25. He has been deputy editor for Energywire, part of E&E News at Politic, for the past two years.
Sobczak had been a reporter for E&E News for six years before that, writing about efforts to secure the electric grid from hackers and other threats. He also closely tracked the crude-by-rail business since 2013, reporting on the scene of multiple oil train derailments.
He won a SABEW Best in Business award for his 2019 investigation of a cyberattack on a Saudi Arabian petrochemical facility.
He previously interned for the Associated Press.
Sobczak is a graduate of Northwestern University.
