OLD Media Moves

Crain’s New York names Bryan its ME, hires three from WSJ

Crain’s New York Business has promoted Telisha Bryan to managing editor and hired three journalists from The Wall Street Journal as it invests in digital news and deeper on-the-ground reporting.

A staff story on its website states, “The new hires are Anne Michaud, a veteran political reporter, editor and author who will serve as assistant managing editor; Taylor Nakagawa, an editor and audience producer who joins as digital editor; and Brandon Sanchez, a reporter and newsletter curator who joins as a reporter covering climate change.

“Bryan joined Crain’s as copy chief in 2017, following previous stints as at CosmopolitanGlamour and HGTV Magazine and two years at Ralph Lauren. She most recently served as assistant managing editor and lead editor on the Crain’s digital Health Pulse product.

“Michaud’s appointment marks her return to Crain’s New York, where in the mid-2000s she served as an editor and senior political reporter, wrote an influential newsletter and produced dozens of cover stories. She later served as an opinion columnist and editor at Newsday for more than a decade, and is author of Why They Stay: Sex Scandals, Deals and Hidden Agendas of Eight Political Wives. At the WSJ, Michaud led a team of audience-facing reporters and managed member-retention projects.

“Nakagawa was an audience interaction producer at the Journal, developing stories and live events in new digital formats. His previous career stops include TechCrunch, where he was an audience analyst, and the Associated Press, where he was an emerging media fellow.

“Sanchez most recently curated the WSJ Notes on the News and Diversity+Business newsletters.”
