Irina Ivanova, a health care reporter at Crain’s New York Business, has resigned to accept an editing position at The Huffington Post.
She’s the second reporter to announce they’re leaving in the past week. Nicholas Wells, a multimedia and urban reporter for Crain’s New York Business based in Brooklyn, has been hired by CNBC to be a data journalist.
Earlier this year, Crain’s New York laid off a dozen journalists.
Ivanova will be news editor on the national desk, working on various sections and reporting to Katie Nelson, the national editor. Her first day is April 13.
“I’ll miss my colleagues at Crain’s, without whose knowledge and generous mentorship my career would be nowhere,” said Ivanova in an email to Talking Biz News. “I’m also extremely excited, and honored, to be joining HuffPo. They’re smart, fast, digitally forward and extremely hard workers. I’m eager to learn from their vast digital experience and, as part of their team, to keep raising the bar of digital journalism.”
Ivanova was a freelance multimedia reporter for outlets such as Mother Jones, City Limits, The New York Times and Gotham Gazette before joining Crain’s. She is an alumna of Amherst College and the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
