Detroit journalist Kelley Root will move across downtown from The Detroit News to join Crain’s Detroit Business as executive editor on March 16.
A story on Crain’s Detroit states, “Root, 52, has held a series of senior editor roles since joining The News in 2004; she was named managing editor in 2019. In that role, she supervised local and business news coverage as well as investigative projects and features.
“Before that, she had been metro editor, a stint that included supervising the reporting team covering Detroit’s bankruptcy, which won multiple national and local journalism awards.
