Crain’s Chicago names associate publisher

Kate Van Etten

Kate Van Etten, an advertising sales executive at Crain’s Chicago Business, has been promoted to associate publisher.

A story on its website states, “The announcement was made by Jim Kirk, publisher and executive editor of Crain’s Chicago Business.

“‘Over the past year, we have grown tremendously and delivered on our promise to bring our readers and customers new products rooted in our great journalism while expanding our reach in Chicago. Kate has been a key player in all of it,’ Kirk says. ‘Her promotion is a recognition of her ability to creatively grow our business and build teams that lead to success here, and I’m thrilled she is taking on this new role.’

“Van Etten, 42, will continue to oversee advertising revenue across the company’s many business lines and will expand her work on new product development, partnerships and audience development, among other areas. She will continue to report to Kirk.”
