Roger Schillerstrom‘s first cartoon appeared in Crain’s Chicago Business in 1982. Seven years later, Crain Communications elevated him to full-time staff cartoonist. He is the only person to hold that position in the parent company’s 100-year history. Though Schillerstrom will continue working as a freelance cartoonist, this is his last cartoon for Crain’s.

Over his 34-year tenure with Crain Communications, Schillerstrom has lacerated and lampooned business and political figures in seven of the publishing company’s titles: Business Insurance, Modern Healthcare, Pensions & Investments, Modern Physician, BtoB and Investment News, in addition to Crain’s Chicago Business.

A native of Des Moines and a longtime resident of Chicago’s west suburbs, Schillerstrom received nine Peter Lisagor Awards for editorial cartooning from the Chicago Headline Club, most recently in 2013.
