Covering the Wall Street mentality

Peter Kramer of The Journal News, based in Westchester County,  profiled Bloomberg Television anchor Matt Miller in Tuesday’s paper.

Kramer wrote, “Miller starts most trading days at the New York Stock Exchange where he gathers tips from traders about the market’s direction. Every half-hour from 1 to 4 p.m., he’s back in front of the camera with ‘hits,’ telling viewers what’s occupying minds on Wall Street.

“Then he heads uptown to Bloomberg’s TV studios and his weeknight appointment anchoring ‘Bloomberg Rewind,’ a look at the day’s top stories in a program that bears his quirky signature.

“‘The 8 p.m. show is what I’m looking forward to,’ says Miller. ‘Most of the time when I’m down here, I’m talking to guys about ideas for ‘Rewind.’ ‘

“Consider it Bloomberg’s answer to ‘The Daily Show,’ he says, where Miller and his guests talk about what traders are talking about, in all respects.

“”The day that Kim Kardashian confirmed she was getting divorced, I walked up to traders and asked ‘What do you think of the austerity plans for Greece?’ and they were like ‘Are you kidding? Why do you care about Greece? Kim Kardashian is now single!’ They’re kidding, and working really hard, but that’s like a Wall Street kind of mentality.'”
