CoStar News expanding real estate coverage, makes nine new hires

CoStar Group has hired a group of real estate journalists recently as part of an expansion to its commercial real estate news publication, according to the National Association of Real Estate Editors newsletter.

Molly Armbrister left the Denver Business Journal to work as Denver News Editor for CoStar. She had been at the Business Journal since July 2014.

Diana Bell, formerly of National Real Estate Investor, is now covering the commercial real estate market in New York. She is a 2014 graduate of Queens College.

Lou Hirsh, formerly of San Diego Business Journal, is now covering the San Diego real estate market for CoStar.

Karen Jordan, formerly of Bisnow Media, is now covering the Los Angeles real estate market. She also previously worked for the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Clare Kennedy, formerly of Finance & Commerce, is now covering the Minneapolis-St. Paul real estate market for CoStar. She was a staff writer at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. She studied English literature and creative writing at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Garry Marr, formerly of the National Post, is now covering the Toronto commercial real estate market. He joined the Financial Post in 1998 just in time to be part of the new National Post. He is a graduate of the Canadian Securities Course and holds a Master of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Western Ontario.

Paul Owers, formerly of The Sun-Sentinel, is covering the South Florida real estate market. He graduated from the University of Central Florida and previously worked at The Palm Beach Post and the Daily Business Review.

Jacquelyn Ryan, formerly of the Los Angeles Business Journal, is now a senior editor at CoStar. She has been freelancing for the past three years.

Tony Wilbert, who worked in media relations in recent years, is now covering the Atlanta real estate market. Wilbert covered real estate at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the National Real Estate Investor earlier in his career.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
