CoStar hires Lawson as entrepreneurship reporter

Richard Lawson

Richard Lawson has been hired by CoStar Group as an entrepreneurship reporter.

He will be based in Atlanta and write stories geared toward entrepreneurs who are seeking office and retail spaces and have other commercial real estate requirements.

Lawson spent the last two years at Crain Communications as an editor, managing and creating custom digital newsletters that compile curated business news across various U.S. cities. He also produced original content for the newsletters to build the brand.

He previously worked for the Nashville Business Journal, The Tennessean, Nashville Post and the Nashville City Paper. And he’s been a communications consultant.

Lawson also worked for Telecommunications Reports, Inside the Navy, Defense Daily, Defense & Diplomacy as an editor and writer producing stories on federal legislation and policy decisions.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
