Jim Cooper has been named editor in chief of Digiday, which covers the media industry.
He replaces Brian Morrissey, who left last month.
A story on Digiday’s website states, “‘Jim has been working with us since June of this year as our managing editor for Digiday. In his new role, he’ll lead and honor our tradition of high quality, honest and independent journalism for the media and marketing industry,’ said Digiday Media CEO Nick Friese.
“‘Jim’s vision and high standards for journalism match up perfectly to those we set early on, yet at the same time, we will continue to evolve the Digiday brand, and go deeper into coverage for marketers, agencies and the future of advertising and the future of work,’ said Friese, adding ‘His experience, integrity, and leadership skills will help us grow and recruit talented journalists, improve our company culture, and expand coverage of the industries we serve.’
“Along with Jim as Digiday’s editor-in-chief and Glossy’s current editor-in-chief, Jill Manoff, Cale Weissman will be leading Modern Retail as its official editor-in-chief. ‘Cale is one of the leading voices and best-known journalists covering the transformation of the retail industry,’ said Friese. ‘He joined us early in the development of Modern Retail from Fast Company, and not only raised the standards of our coverage around DTC, Amazon and the store of the future, but he quickly became a leader in the organization.'”
