Alec Johnson, the Torrington bureau chief for the Waterbury Republican-American, has been named the business editor for the daily.
He will start his new role in September. He replaces Dave Krechevsky, who had been business editor since 2004.
Johnson joined the staff in August 2010 after graduating from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Before Columbia, Johnson interned at the Watertown (N.Y.) Daily Times and served as editor-in-chief of a student-run weekly at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn.
A 2009 graduate of Dickinson, Johnson has a bachelor’s in political science. While at Phillips Exeter Academy, he was an intern for Congressman John McHugh.
