Columbus Business First publisher named chamber CEO

The Columbus (Ohio) Business First publisher has been hired to head the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, reports Dominic Cappa, editor of the American City Business Journals paper.

Cappa writes, “Don DePerro, publisher of Business First for 20 years, will take over chamber management March 1 as its president and CEO.

“DePerro, 57, will succeed Michael Dalby, who leaves the chamber after its Feb. 11 annual meeting. Dalby arrived in Columbus in 2011.

“DePerro came to Columbus in 1996 after serving as publisher of the Jacksonville (Fla.) Business Journal, a sister newspaper owned by American City Business Journals Inc. of Charlotte, N.C. During his tenure at American City – he started his career with the company as a reporter in Buffalo, N.Y. – DePerro received six Eagle Awards for Excellence, the company’s top performance honor.”
