Jenny Applegate, the assistant managing editor of Columbus Business First, is leaving the publication to join the Ohio Attorney General’s office.
She has been at the paper since February 2018, overseeing the Insight and Entrepreneur sections, brainstorming story ideas, making connections with small business owners, and coordinating freelance writers and photographers.
Before Business First, Applegate spent 17 years at The Columbus Dispatch, where the editor was Ben Marrison.
“He’s going to be chief of staff at the attorney general’s office and recruited me with the help of another former Dispatch co-worker, Diana Holbrook, a designer,” said Applegate. “It’ll be my first job outside of journalism.”
Her last day at Business First will be Jan. 4.
She added: “I’ve been fortunate to work with really great people in both of my jobs. I’m hoping to meet even more in my next position.”
