Cointelegraph names new editor in chief

Jay Cassano, Cointelegraph’s editor-in-chief, has accepted the role of CEO at the company and Jon Rice, managing editor for Cointelegraph Magazine, will step in as Cointelegraph’s new editor-in-chief.

“I’m grateful to Cointelegraph for this opportunity and the trust placed in me by the company,” said Cassano. “It is only possible to accept this role knowing that the editorial team is in excellent hands led by Jon and Kristina.”

Prior to joining Cointelegraph last year, Cassano was an investigative journalist at Sludge. He has also worked as an investigative journalist for the International Business Times at Newsweek Media Group. He was also journalist-in-residence at the Data and Society Research Institute.

Additionally, he has also worked as a contributing writer and staff writer at Fast Company. Cassano has also held the posts of Turkey editor, Istanbul correspondent and copy editor at Jadaliyya, Inter Press Service and Today’s Zaman respectively.

Cassano is a B.A. in politics and philosophy from Hampshire College.

Rice joined Cointelegraph in February as managing editor for its magazine. Rice also held the posts of co-founder and managing editor of Crypto Briefing, a digital asset media outlet. He also has over 25 years’ experience as a publisher, creative strategist, editor, advertising agency director, and founder.
