Business journalist Kevin Reynolds has been hired by CoinDesk as global news editor.

CoinDesk covers news about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

“We plan to turn the knowledge Kevin acquired from that experience into a redesign of CoinDesk’s news feed, making it a standalone, shorter-form product that’s separate from but closely integrated with Marc Hochstein’s editorial team,” said chief content officer Michael Casey in an announcement to the staff. “The current news reporting team of Dan Palmer, Danny Nelson, and Seb Sinclair, currently overseen by Pete Pachal, will report to Kevin, who will report directly to me.

Reynolds had previously been a managing editor at business news service Reorg Research and most recently editor in chief of Stansberry Research’s Stansberry Newswire.

Reynolds also worked at Bloomberg News for more than 20 years before leaving in September 2015. He oversaw the creation of First Word, which became the most-read wire on the Bloomberg terminal behind Bloomberg News.

Before starting First Word, Reynolds turned around two operations for Bloomberg. He started multiple others, including the training program used for all new hires around the world as well as a government and political news service for BGov, the company’s product that quantifies the business impact of U.S. government action.

During his tenure at Bloomberg, Reynolds also oversaw the desks around the world that send flash headlines on breaking news from press releases, Securities and Exchange Commission filings, websites and other media, as well as Bloomberg’s overnight and weekend staff.
