CNNMoney names Barbieri managing editor

CNNMoney.com executive editor Lex Haris sent out the following announcement on Friday:

I am very happy to announce that we have a new Managing Editor: Rich Barbieri.

As the entire team knows, Rich has been the key to so much of our success over the past few years:

He helped build CNNMoney’s newsroom into an international shop that does quality journalism.

He built our relationships with newsgathering teams throughout CNN.

He’s the first one we all turn to when we have a question on a story.

In short, he makes all of us smarter every day.

And now, as we enter the next phase for CNNMoney, who better to help lead us? We know the journalism will continue to be strong. And that he’ll always be available to help us make a tough editorial call (seriously, he is ALWAYS here).

Congratulations Rich!

Barbieri had been deputy managing editor. He was also managing editor of Crain’s New York Business from 2005 to 2007.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
