CNNMoney hires new media editor

Rich Barbieri, the managing editor of CNNMoney.com, sent out the following announcement on Monday:

We have a new colleague here in NYC. Ed, Lex and I are happy to announce that Alex Koppelman will be joining CNNMoney as Media editor. He starts June 27.

Alex is an experienced journalist who, most recently, was editorial director of Vocativ. Before that he was enterprise editor at the Guardian in the U.S. He has worked at the New Yorker, where he was politics editor for the magazine’s website; and at Adweek, where he was a news editor; and at Salon, where he was a senior writer and ran the site’s political blog.

Alex will oversee the media half of our Media + Entertainment coverage and work closely with Megan Thomas, our Entertainment editor in L.A. One more hire, and the team will be complete. Stay tuned.

His arrival means that Mark Mooney can devote more of his editing talents to breaking news, while still jumping on M+E stories as needed. We are one fast-moving seamless operation.
