Melvin Backman has been hired to cover markets and investing for CNNMoney.com, according to a post on his Facebook page.
Backman writes:
I’m trying to write about business, finance and economic for people who aren’t usually into that sort of stuff, so any suggestions or ideas about things to write about would be awesome.
Backman has been at Debtwire, where he covered mid-market bankruptcies — companies with less than $150 million in funded debt. He also wrote about the Business Development Company industry.
Backman, who graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2013, had interned with Reuters and The Wall Street Journal. While a student, he won a SABEW Best in Business award in the student category.
