Samantha Murphy Kelly, the deputy tech editor at Mashable, has been hired as a tech editor at CNNMoney.com.
Kelly covers lifestyle tech and entertainment at Mashable, which she joined in 2011 and is based in New York. She will start at CNNMoney on July 11, working the first month from San Francisco.
In an email to the staff CNNTech senior editor Aimee Rawlins wrote, “In her role, she edited daily news articles and features, oversaw the company’s Snapchat Discover presence and wrote lifestyle tech stories. Her beats included wearable tech, health and fitness gadgets, smart home and social media.”
Before joining Mashable, Kelly covered the tech industry as a senior writer for TechNewsDaily and wrote stories for sister publications LiveScience.com and Laptop Magazine.
Her stories have been syndicated to various sites including CNN, Yahoo News, MSNBC, ABC News, Fox News and CBS News.
She also spent five years at a retail trade magazine writing about social media and technology, worked at ABC News in the Brian Ross investigative unit and got her start in journalism at CourtTV.com, where she reported on high-profile court cases.
She’s a graduate of New York University with a degree in journalism.
