CNN Business names Quinn its senior tech editor

Matt Quinn

CNN Business general manager Jason Farkas and executive editor Rich Barbieri sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:

Hello Team,

We want to share some important staffing changes coming to our newsroom in the next few weeks.

Rich and I are thrilled to announce that Matt Quinn of Quartz is joining CNN Business as our new Senior Tech Editor. Matt fills a critical role as CNN Business sharpens its focus on technology companies and their growing influence on our culture, society, politics and our economy.  Matt brings over 15 years experience guiding business coverage in leadership positions at WSJ, Inc., and AdAge before his most recent role as Tech Editor at Quartz. He will be based in San Francisco at our growing West Coast bureau, reporting to Alex Koppelman. Matt begins on March 18th. Please join us in welcoming him to CNN Business.

Additionally, we’re excited to share that Kaya Yurieff has been promoted to Tech Writer from Associate Writer. Kaya has distinguished herself with stories about CGI Instagram influencersVenmo data, and many many many smart angles on Amazon’s HQ2.

CNN Business has doubled-down on livestreaming over the past year. That effort has been spearheaded by Mike Tarson and Amanda Hobor, who developed Markets Now into an important franchise, and in the process built a livestreaming infrastructure that did not exist in 2018. We are thrilled to announce that they have both been promoted to Senior Producer.
