CNBC’s digital news operation hires eight, promotes two

CNBC.com made the following hiring announcements this week:

  • Kerri Anne Renzulli has been hired as careers writer for “Make It.” Previously, she was a reporter at Money magazine where she covered family finances, retirement, careers and behavioral finance. While there, Renzulli helped launch Money.com in 2014 and was its first digital reporter. She also held a variety of internships at publications such as the Orlando Sentinel, Orlando Business Journal and Palm Beach Post. She received her bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Central Florida and received her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
  • Jon Fazio has been hired as an associate producer for the “Make It” video team. Prior to CNBC, he held a variety of producer and editor roles at the National Women’s Soccer League, Westwood One Radio Sports and the MLB and NHL Networks, where he won four Sports Emmy Awards. Fazio got his start in sports journalism at MSG Varsity. He holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting from Montclair State University.
  • Claire Nolan joins as an associate producer on the “Make It” video team. Prior to CNBC, Nolan worked at Time Inc. where she started as a production associate for video-based personal finance brand Coinage before moving on to producing video content for Money, Fortune and Time. She received her bachelor’s degree in media studies from Auburn University.
  • Katie Schoolov joins as a producer for the video team in San Francisco. Most recently, she was a video journalist for KPBS, the PBS and NPR affiliate in San Diego. While there, Schoolov shot and edited in-depth feature stories and spot news for the KPBS Evening Edition nightly newscast. She began her career as a video journalist at the Las Vegas Sun and held a variety of internships at publications including the Associated Press and The Times in Johannesburg, South Africa. She also serves on the board of directors for the National Press Photographer Association. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
  • Sam Rega joins the video team as a senior producer. Prior to CNBC, he was a producer at Vice News where he developed taped packages as well as live shows for Twitter. Sam also directed, produced and edited the award-winning documentary “Breaking the Bee.” Before that, he spent three years at Business Insider where he developed, produced and directed documentaries, investigative stories and series for the site. Rega also worked at a handful of media studios, editing and producing projects that were featured on Netflix, VH1, PBS, ESPN, The New York Times and iTunes. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and motion pictures from the University of Miami.
  • Jordan Smith has been hired as an associate producer on the video team, working on news and programming content. A recent college graduate, Smith has spent the last year at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri, producing content for the network’s homepage and social platforms. Before that, he was a digital content producer at Vox Magazine. Jordan received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.
  • Andrea Miller joins as an associate producer on the video team, producing content for the news and programming group. Since graduating college in 2017, Miller has worked as an intern and production associate for ABC News, specifically with the ABC News Live and ABCNews.com video teams. She also interned for outlets such as WPHL-TV and TUTV in Philadelphia and was a Dow Jones News Fund Business Reporting Fellow. Miller received her bachelor’s degree in media studies and production from Temple University.
  • Andrew Davis has been hired as an associate producer, focusing on politics and markets video content. Previously, Davis was a production associate for ABC News’ “Good Morning America” and also served as a production assistant for the company’s Lincoln Square Productions, working on “America Inside Out with Katie Couric.” Additionally, he is the creator, host and producer of The Millennial Project, a YouTube documentary series about the millennial voice in American politics. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Johns Hopkins University.

Additionally, Kathy Mavrikakis has been promoted to senior production manager, and Elisabeth (EB) Cordova has been promoted to deputy managing editor.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
