CNBC/Fox Business Network battle extends to advertising

Michael Learmonth of Variety writes that both CNBC and Fox Business Network are extending their battle for supremacy in the cable business news wars to their advertising.

Learmonth wrote, “Now Fox Biz is hitting the papers with an ad targeting its TV foe, imitating the newspaper ads CNBC placed during the first week, as well as its slogan, ‘First in Business. Worldwide.’

“The Fox ad, fashioned to look like CNBC’s campaign, features the Fox Biz folks and a twist on the slogan: ‘First in Business. Soon.’

“Meanwhile, both cablers are buying up local cable ads on each other’s air, urging business viewers to switch sides.”
