CNBC viewership drops dramatically in October

CNBC‘s overall viewership fell 52 percent in October and dropped 49 percent in the key 25 to 54 age demographic, according to data posted Tuesday on the Zero Hedge site.

The business news network’s total viewership fell to 240,000, down from 502,000 in the same month a year ago. In the 25 to 54 age group, viewership fell to 76,000 from 150,000.

Jim Cramer’s “Mad Money” show saw a 52 percent drop in total viewers to 195,000 from 408,000 in October 2008. Among viewers aged 25 to 54, the drop was 56 percent, to 64,000 from 145,000.

“Squawk on the Street,” which airs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., reported a 46 percent decline in viewers to 328,000 from 610,000.

“The Call,” which airs from 11 a.m. to noon, reported a 49 percent decline in viewers to 312,000 from 617,000.

  • CNBC has become so politicized during most of its dayparts that it's almost worthless as a news source. Bloomberg is so much more reliable.

  • What do you expect when the network keeps Bertha Coombs and lets Rebecca Jarvis go? I used to watch every day, hoping to catch a glimpse of Rebecca, but now I don't watch CNBC at all.

  • CNBC will continue to drop! Their people are far too biased and even bitter!!! That might be tolerated if what they preached was right even half the time. With all those bitter and hateful remarks, they are wrong about their business models.
