CNBC special beats Piers Morgan in rankings

TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Talking Biz News likes to criticize business news network CNBC for its ratings when they drop, primarily because we can’t get ratings for rivals Fox Business and Bloomberg Television.

But we recently discovered a situation where one of CNBC’s special shows is actually outperforming a much-hyped new show on CNN.

Last Thursday, CNBC’s “Supermarket, Inc.” special at 9 p.m. beat “Piers Morgan Tonight.” CNBC had 234,000 viewers in the key 25 to 54 demographic and 504,000 total viewers, while the Piers Morgan show, which replaced Larry King Live, had 164,000 in the 25-to54-year old demographic and 498,000 overall, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.

Who was being interviewed on the Piers Morgan show, you ask? The Kardashian sisters.

CNN has been pulling out all the stops for the debut of the Piers Morgan’ show and looks like it’s not working — people would rather watch a documentary about grocery stores.
