As CNBC continues to invest in enterprising news coverage, Washington and Silicon Valley will be two key areas of focus for 2017 and beyond.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce that Mary Catherine Wellons will join the network’s DC Bureau as the Deputy Bureau Chief, reporting to Matt Cuddy. There, she will be a critical force in bolstering CNBC’s TV and digital efforts, especially with the new administration taking over in January. Mary Catherine graduated with high distinction from the University of Virginia and holds a B.A. in Political and Social Thought.
We would like to thank Mary Catherine for her stellar work in launching our San Francisco bureau, CNBC@1 Market, the cornerstone of the network’s tech coverage, and for making CNBC a go-to destination for important tech stories.
To continue building on the momentum, we are making two significant moves at 1 Market. Sally Shin has been named San Francisco Bureau Chief, reporting to Lacy O’Toole. In this position, she will spearhead the network’s coverage in Northern California. Sally played an instrumental role in the successful launch of Squawk Alley and is closely connected to the content and top players in the tech space. Sally received an Executive MBA from Columbia Business School and holds bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Economics from NYU.
In addition, Matt Rosoff will join CNBC in the newly-created position of Editorial Director for CNBC Digital. He will lead digital’s technology coverage based in San Francisco and report to Jay Yarow. Matt comes to CNBC from Business Insider where he was Executive Editor and West Coast Bureau Chief overseeing technology coverage for the site, which he joined in 2010. Previously, he has been an editorial director at IDG Enterprise and an analyst at Directions on Microsoft, and blogged about music tech for CBS Interactive. From 1995 to 2000, Matt was a founding editor at CNET.com. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Williams College.
These changes will take effect in early January.
Please join us in congratulating Mary Catherine and Sally on their new roles, and welcoming Matt to CNBC.
