Dan Colarusso, senior vice president of business news at CNBC, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
At CNBC, we consistently strive to deliver world-class coverage that provides our viewers with the business and markets news they demand. With that in mind, I am excited to announce key leadership team appointments that will take our Business Day programming to new heights.
Lacy O’Toole will become Managing Editor of CNBC Business News and Jason Gewirtz will shift into a revamped Vice President, News position to double down on what we do best – bringing investors of all sizes critical news and analysis.
Lacy and Jason share not only extensive experience at CNBC but a deep passion for the news. They will work hand-in-hand with show teams and our features unit to dig deeper into stocks, bonds, companies and countries with unflinching reporting.
As you well know, Lacy is a supremely vital part of our daily news operation. She will now be responsible for driving the network’s overall news agenda, creating and spearheading timely coverage initiatives and maintaining our high editorial standards. The newsdesk, bureaus in
Washington, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles, booking, rights and clearances and media acquisition will report to her.
Katie Slaman will continue to report to Lacy as Senior Enterprise Editor, responsible for planning on the newsdesk, working with TV and Digital teams both in the U.S. and overseas. Additionally, we will be creating a position on the planning team to manage schedules.
Jason, who has been the guiding hand behind “Halftime Report” for three years, will bring his deep understanding of the markets and show production to the execution of stories across Business Day programming. His primary focus will be on our network-wide emphasis to cover more companies and asset classes with stories driven by data, bold-faced names and on-the-ground reporting. In his new role, Jason will oversee the markets and data teams, field producers and work closely with show teams to guide coverage.
In these new roles, Lacy and Jason will work closely with Craig Bengtson, Scott Matthews and Mary Duffy.
I’m confident these moves will go far to provide shows with the dynamic coverage and sharp perspectives that have made CNBC the first and most trusted stop for markets and business news.
Please join me in congratulating Lacy and Jason on their new roles.
Dan
