CNBC launches iPad app

December 7, 2010

Business news channel CNBC announced Tuesday that has rolled out an iPad application.

The app provides live, real-time stock quotes before, during and after market hours, directly from both the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. Additionally, the app offers breaking news alerts and access to top CNBC video clips.

The app also allows users the ability to create and track their favorite company stocks live, in real-time and interact with a custom CNBC Ticker.

“The CNBC Real-Time iPad App brings the power of CNBC to the iPad in an engaging, highly-interactive and visually rich experience,” said Scott Drake, vice president of CNBC Digital, in a statement. “We are proud to announce this latest addition to our extensive suite of digital financial products which ensure the real-time data, news and analysis investors care about are available to them across multiple platforms when and where they need it.”

CNBC introduced its app for the iPhone in October 2009. Since its launch, the iPhone app has been downloaded close to 1 million times and ranked fourth on PC Magazine’s “The Top 40 Free iPhone Apps 2010” list.
