CNBC hires two new correspondents, promotes two producers

Dan Colarusso, senior vice president of business news at CNBC, sent out the following announcement on Monday:

As we continue to expand our general news coverage and build on our industry-leading business news team, I’m excited to announce the addition of two new correspondents to CNBC ‘s roster and the promotion of two of our veteran producers.

Valerie Castro, an Emmy award-winning journalist, joins the network as a correspondent for The News with Shepard Smith. Valerie most recently served as the anchor for The Evening Report produced by NBC News for Quibi. Prior to that, she was a general assignment reporter for WCBS in New York. Before coming to the East Coast, she spent five years at CBS affiliate KCNC in Denver where she covered several high profile stories including historic wildfires, floods and winter snowstorms. She was also there for the Aurora Theater Shooting and extensively covered court hearings following that event. While she calls Colorado home, Valerie has lived in several countries including England and the Netherlands. Valerie, who is fluent in Spanish, is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and received her bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Colorado.

Kristina Partsinevelos joins CNBC as a general assignment reporter for Business Day covering stocks, investment trends around ESG and the reopening of the American economy. She comes to us from Fox Business Network where she spent four years covering everything from technology, to the White House, to the Federal Reserve and reporting in the field around New York City during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Before that, she worked for Global News in London, BNN Bloomberg (Bell Media) in Toronto and CBC Edmonton. Kristina received her MBA from the University of Oxford’s Saȉd Business School and has a master’s in journalism from Carleton University.

Maria Boden has been named Executive Producer of The Exchange and Power Lunch, reporting to Craig Bengtson, Vice President of Business News Programming. Since joining the network in 2015, Maria has stood out as one of the most creative producers in our ranks. She’s been quick and capable at experimenting with new segments, such as embracing augmented reality as a regular feature of the program. Maria has an optimistic and can-do spirit that has greatly benefited our team and will undoubtedly enhance the production of our 1 – 3 pm block.

Marc Gilbert has been named Executive Producer of TechCheck, our newest program dedicated to the opportunities and risks in the technology sector. A seven-year veteran of the company, Marc’s relentless enthusiasm, vocal leadership and sharp perspectives on all things make him ideal to lead TechCheck’s ambitious mission. A Supervising Producer since 2019, he helped drive the overhaul of Closing Bell and, specifically, the design of the program’s defining element The Market Zone. Marc will have a dual report to Senior Executive Producer Todd Bonin and Craig Bengtson.
