Kevin Krim, senior vice president and general manager of CNBC Digital, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
Hi everyone,
Turbocharging our social media efforts is a top priority for our business so I am very excited to let you know that Anna Gonzalez is joining CNBC as our new Social Media Director. She will report directly to me, with a dotted line to Nik Deogun.
Anna brings a terrific mix of social media expertise and editorial strategy along with a real passion for innovative storytelling. Most recently, she was the Social Media Manager at CNN. There, she and her team produced news for a variety of social platforms (most recently CNN’s Snapchat Discover efforts), and drove initiatives to engage with social audiences, increase traffic and promote on-air programming. Anna started her career doing digital roles for News 8 in Austin and at the CBS affiliate in Dallas. Anna holds a BA in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs from Southern Methodist University.
Anna will be responsible for leading our small, but mighty social media team as they help our whole organization continue to do creative social content and grow scale by attracting and engaging our large multi-platform audience. I want to extend my deep gratitude to Stefanie, Eli and Eric for all their exceptional work. Thanks to their efforts, we never missed a beat during MC Wellons’ move to our SF bureau. In February, this team helped us achieve a record-high number of social unique visitors to mobile web – up 314% year-over-year. With Anna at the helm, we’ll continue to expect tremendous things from our very talented social media team.
Anna starts on Monday, March 30. Please join me in welcoming @webanna to CNBC.
