CNBC hires Shao as Singapore reporter

Grace Shao

CNBC has hired Grace Shao as a digital reporter for its Singapore office.

She will start in June.

Shao will be writing for the CNBC website and creating digital videos down the line.

She is currently a student at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Shao previously studied at Tsinghua University in Beijing and the University of Alberta in Canada.

She worked as a reporter and sub anchor at CGTN in Beijing before attending Columbia. And she also worked for S&P Global Market Intelligence as a tech reporter in China.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
