CNBC hires China correspondent

Business news network CNBC has hired Eunice Yoon to be its China correspondent.

Yoon returns to CNBC after 8 years with CNN International where she was the Asia business correspondent and later, the network’s China correspondent based in Beijing.

In her new role, Yoon has been tasked with deepening CNBC’s coverage of China from its new bureau in Beijing. Her first assignment for the network will be to cover the Chinese leadership transition scheduled for Nov. 8.

“I’m thrilled we have been able to bring Eunice back to the network,” said John Casey, VP, News & Programming, CNBC International, in a statement. “She is an extremely talented correspondent with significant experience covering the political, economic and social trends in China.”

During her career she has reported on many major news events, most notably, she was one of the first journalists to reach the Sichuan earthquake zone.  She also reported on the run-up to the Beijing Olympics and her reports on the tsunami in 2004 ensured she was part of the team that won a prestigious DuPont Award.
