I am very excited to let you know that Eric Chemi is joining CNBC Digital in the newly created role of Senior Editor-at-Large, Data Journalism. He starts Monday, December 1 and will report to Allen Wastler.

Data journalism is a critical component to growing and enhancing our coverage. Eric is a talented, versatile, innovative and energetic creator of data-driven stories. We expect him to turbocharge our 360-degree digital and TV efforts in this area by working closely with our existing worldwide data and newsgathering teams. Eric’s analytic skills and journalistic instincts will help us dig out smarter, sharper stories behind the numbers. He will be at the juncture of market moving data and money moving stories and our audience will be the winners.

Eric comes to CNBC Digital from Bloomberg Media, where he was the Head of Data and Research working across Businessweek and TV. There, he managed a global team that provided data visualization, markets analysis, breaking news and financial research across platforms. Previously, he worked at Fortress Investment Group as an Associate in Portfolio and Risk Analysis. Eric has also held positions at JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and MIT Laboratory for Financial Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.

All you race fans should also know that Eric created and runs 36 Races, the world’s first “Moneyball for NASCAR” statistics research website.

Eric is a fantastic addition to our team. Please join me in welcoming him to CNBC.
