CNBC, Fox Business go live on Sunday to cover Wall Street

Brian Stelter of the New York Times writes Monday on his TV Decorder blog about how business news cable networks CNBC and Fox Business Network both aired live programming on Sunday about Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers.

Stelter writes, “On Sunday, concluding an evening that began as a one-hour special and wound up being extended to three hours due to breaking news, the CNBC anchor Dylan Ratigan called the day the culmination of ‘a complete rethinking of how the American financial system functions.’

“He added: ‘This is a day that will be remembered forever.’

“Fox Business Network, the upstart competitor to CNBC, presented a special report from 8 to 9 p.m. and replayed it later in the evening. Both networks camped outside Lehman Brothers’ headquarters on Seventh Avenue in New York City and interviewed employees as they exited their offices.”
