Business news network CNBC experimented with the Meerkat broadcasting application on Tuesday, reports Todd Spangler of Variety.
Spangler writes, “The biz-news channel used Meerkat Tuesday morning to webcast Jim Cramer’s ringing of the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange to celebrate ‘Mad Money’s” 10th anniversary.
“The Meerkat app lets users broadcast live-streams, with notifications to followers via Twitter. Viewers can only watch Meerkat video live, not on-demand.
“‘The goal is to give CNBC viewers/users the perspective of being ‘inside’ the stories we’re covering and get to feel the excitement behind the scenes,’ a CNBC rep said.”
