CNBC expands Make It team

Jenna Goudreau, managing editor of CNBC Digital, sent out the following announcement on Monday:

I wanted to take the opportunity to give an update on Make It.

I joined the digital team in May as the managing editor for the site, and I couldn’t be prouder of the tremendous success we’ve seen in just seven months.

Traffic is growing like crazy, we’re hiring new people, and we’re boosting our video efforts. Our small space in NYC is humming, and getting crowded fast!

After launching in March, Make It has been consistently setting new monthly readership records and hit a high of 3 million unique visitors in September. The site focuses on all things money and success for the next generation of leaders, zeroing in on the core topics of entrepreneurs, leadership, careers and money. It also aims to make the most of CNBC’s exceptional primetime TV line up and connect it with new digital audiences.

The growth is thanks in large part to the great work of Make It writers Kathleen Elkins, who joined in August from Business Insider; Cat Clifford, who also joined in August from Entrepreneur.com; and Marguerite Ward, who we promoted to a staff reporter in July.

I expect the site to get even better thanks to our newest hire. Ester Bloom will be joining the team as a senior editor for CNBC Make It, starting October 5. Previously, Ester was a contributing editor at The Billfold and a contributing writer for The Atlantic. Her work has also appeared in Slate, Salon and Quartz. Ester will be located in the New York office, helping me to develop and build the Make It section and editorial team, which is already growing at an incredible rate.

To enhance our efforts on Make It video, Brandon Ancil’s digital video team — including Mary Stevens, Qin Chen, Zack Guzman, Andrea Kramar, and Jarrett Bellini, who works remotely — will be joining the Make It team full-time, relocating to New York on October 10.

Caroline Moss, who recently joined CNBC as director of creative solutions, is also growing her team! Kathy Mavrikakis recently joined as production manager. Kathy was previously supervising producer at “The Late Show with David Letterman” and a line producer at ABC’s “The View.” Also joining this month is producer Elizabeth Skadden, who comes to CNBC from producing and directing videos at both Rolling Stone and VICE.

Please join me in welcoming everyone to CNBC and the Make It team.
