CNBC.com names two managing editors

Jay Yarow, senior vice president and executive editor for CNBC Digital, sent out the following announcement on Friday:

CNBC Digital is off to an incredible start in 2017.

Last month, we were the fastest growing site among the top ten properties in the business news category – a position we held for all of 2016. We already set multiple traffic records this year and have posted double-digit growth.

This is just the beginning. As you know, we have lofty ambitions to expand our coverage.

By investing in our team, we’ve grown CNBC Digital and continue along the path of becoming the best business/money site in the world. You’ve already seen this with Make It, which has broadened our all things money content and rapidly built its team since launch a year ago. We’ve also begun staffing significantly into our technology coverage, adding numerous talented reporters to our ranks and we will continue to examine every vertical with plans to hire more people.

As part of our expansion plans, we are thrilled to announce Jeffrey McCracken is joining CNBC as Managing Editor of CNBC.com. In this role, he will oversee the entire spectrum of digital business news, turbocharging our efforts to build the best digital business news team in the world. Previously, he spent almost seven years at Bloomberg building an impressive M&A team. Prior to Bloomberg, Jeff was a business reporter at The Wall Street Journal and an automotive reporter for the Detroit Free Press. He received his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

We’re also pleased to announce Jeffrey Nash has been named Managing Editor, Audience Growth. We have an ambitious growth plan, and in a modern media world, that means mastery of all platforms out there — Google, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, as well as platforms that are yet to emerge. Jeff, who has been an instrumental leader to our entire organization, and me for the past year, is the perfect person to manage this important initiative. In addition, he will continue to act as our liaison in the newsroom coordinating the digital and TV teams.

This is a very exciting time for CNBC Digital and with Jeff Nash, Jeff McCracken, Jenna Goudreau overseeing Make It, and Mike Senzon leading digital video, we are well-positioned to continue to grow our digital media organization.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
