I am delighted to announce that Harriet Taylor is joining CNBC Digital as a technology writer. Reporting to Matt Hunter and officially starting Thursday, October 1, she will cover Apple, Uber and the sharing economy, security and whatever else is hot in the Valley.
Harriet, as you are likely aware, spent the last three years as a field producer based out of our Los Angeles bureau, covering media, technology and startups. Working with senior media correspondent Julia Boorstin and reporter Jane Wells, she produced a broad range of in-depth packages — from news hits on Twitter’s IPO and the Sony hacking scandal to key events like the Re/code conference, SXSW Interactive and the Sun Valley Conference. Harriet is also no stranger to dotcom: She contributed many of our top Digital stories, including pieces on protecting your privacy and the business of online advertising, and was one of key drivers behind our annual “CNBC Disruptor 50” list.
Harriet brings strong tech reporting chops to her new beat. Prior to CNBC, she covered tech start-ups and Fortune 500 firms as a field producer with Bloomberg TV in San Francisco. She helped launch Bloomberg West and produced Venture, a weekly half-hour show profiling Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. She cut her teeth as a reporter at Fox News Channel, where she was an Associate Field Producer in its New York Bureau. A native of London, Harriet attended the University of Edinburgh and has a Masters in Ancient History. (Yes, she knows her Late Bronze Age from her Early Iron Age.)
Please join me in welcoming Harriet to our team and congratulating her on new role.
