I am pleased to announce two more new hires for the CNBC.com newsroom.
First, Emma Newburger has been hired as a general assignment reporter who will support our weekend coverage. Emma will also write about climate change and its impact on some of America’s biggest companies.
Emma joined CNBC last summer as part of our first-ever digital news rotation program, in which members rotate through various teams in the CNBC.com newsroom. Over the past year, she has written for CNBC’s politics team, the breaking news desk and CNBC Make It’s Closing the Gap vertical. Previously, Emma was a production intern at MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and a media relations intern at NPR.
Emma is a graduate of Cornell University. She received her bachelor’s degree in applied economics and management. Emma grew up in East Hampton, New York. When not working, she likes to practice yoga and sing opera music.
Our second new hire is Kevin Stankiewicz, who will work as an embed reporter, covering news made by our various on-air guests.
Kevin joins CNBC from The Columbus Dispatch in Ohio, where he worked on the metro desk since May 2018. He covered a range of topics, including suburban government and K-12 education.
Kevin graduated from Ohio State University last year with a degree in journalism and geography. While there, he served as editor-in-chief for the student newspaper, The Lantern. He also interned at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and freelanced for Turner Sports and The Washington Post.
He is a native of the Cleveland area and remains doubtful the Browns will resemble a quality football team this fall. He likes running, reading and photography, and will try to keep “Seinfeld” references to a minimum.
Emma and Kevin will start their new positions in the newsroom later this month. Please join me in congratulating them.
