I am pleased to announce some new additions to our growing CNBC.com team.
Amanda Macias joins CNBC.com as National Security Correspondent, based in Washington, D.C. Amanda comes to CNBC from CBS Radio where she was a web editor. Prior to CBS Radio, she was a correspondent and senior editor at Business Insider, covering the Pentagon. She also covered NATO and EU political institutions for Reuters in Brussels. Amanda, who grew up in an Army family, began her career as a reporter and weekend anchor at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. She received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
Anjali Athavaley joins CNBC.com as a News Editor who will help edit and manage the website. Anjali comes to us from Reuters where she has been since 2014. She held positions there including Food and Beverage Reporter, Online Editor/Social Media Reporter and, most recently, Telecom Reporter. Anjali also spent time at The Wall Street Journal as a Personal Journal Reporter before moving on to Medical Device Reporter and Metro Reporter. Anjali earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and received her master’s degree in Economics and Business Journalism from Columbia University where she was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow.
Additionally, Lauren Thomas has been hired in a full-time staff position as retail reporter for CNBC.com. She joined CNBC in January 2017 as a News Associate focused on breaking news coverage. She quickly shifted gears to retail and consumer coverage. Before CNBC, Lauren held internships at TheStreet, Bloomberg and our very own San Francisco bureau, CNBC@1Market. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Journalism and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Please join me in welcoming Amanda and Anjali to the team and congratulating Lauren on her new role.
