CNBC.com names five new reporters

CNBC.com managing editor Jeffrey McCracken sent out the following on Friday:

I am pleased to announce several personnel moves inside the CNBC.com newsroom.

MacKenzie Sigalos has been named a technology reporter for CNBC.com. After moving to San Francisco this summer, Mack will cover everything from cybersecurity to developments in blockchain, along with a side focus on gaming. She will report to Technology Editor Matt Rosoff.

Over the past four years, Mack has served as a senior producer for CNBC.com and managed a team responsible for producing videos and stories for CNBC’s digital and social platforms. She also reported, edited and hosted her own segments; in 2020, Mack also helped launch CNBC.com’s business wrap show, “After Hours,” which she currently hosts. Prior to joining CNBC, she spent five years with CNN in New York and Hong Kong. While there, she wrote, reported and produced for a range of TV business and news programs, including Fareed Zakaria’s weekly foreign affairs program and Anderson Cooper’s daily news hour.

Mack graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University. She earned a distinction for her Master’s dissertation at the University of Oxford, where she was also awarded the Routledge Scholarship for academic excellence. Outside of work, Mack is a certified high school calculus teacher and a prolific traveler who has spent time in more than 50 countries.

Another new hire for CNBC.com is Maggie Fitzgerald, who has joined dotcom’s markets team as a reporter working on CNBC PRO, our subscription investor service. Maggie will report to Markets Editor John Melloy and spend a lot of time covering the future of retail investing.

Maggie served as a news associate for CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” and “Squawk Alley” before she found herself on Melloy’s team. Maggie graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism from Medill; she also minored in political science. She played on the varsity field hockey team at NU and won a Big Ten championship.

Maggie was raised in Philadelphia, where her sports loyalty runs deep, but spends lots of time in Chicago with friends and family. In her free time, she watches sports  ­ — especially the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Northwestern and Notre Dame football – and is an avid runner and skier. Maggie was on Broadway when she was a child and goes to the theatre every chance she gets.

Jesse Pound is also joining the CNBC PRO team. Reporting to John Melloy, Jesse will primarily focus on covering market-beating fund managers and investing trends.

Jesse has worked at CNBC since June 2019, first as a newsroom fellow and then as part of the markets team. He got his master’s degree in finance from Villanova University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a dual bachelor’s degree in journalism and economics.

While at Oklahoma, Jesse served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper and worked as an intern for The Oklahoman and the San Antonio Express-News. When he is not working, you can find Jesse running in Central Park or watching old movies on the Criterion Channel. He grew up in Mississippi and, as a result, can probably answer any college football question you have.

Additionally, Greg Iacurci is moving into a personal finance reporter role for the site. Greg has been working as a contract reporter covering personal finance for CNBC since December 2019, focusing on topics such as the government stimulus payments, unemployment and investing.  He previously worked as a reporter for InvestmentNews, where he wrote about retirement, tax and insurance for an audience of financial advisors.

Greg grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut, a moderately sized town best known for its local mall. He graduated from Fordham University with a double major in communication and media studies and French language and literature. He now lives in Brooklyn.

Outside of work, Greg loves to rock climb and perform improv comedy. He still plays guitar in his college band and also travels as often as possible. (Here’s to hoping for Patagonia and Iceland in 2022.) He met Harrison Ford a decade ago and now wonders what else in life could possibly top that.

Finally, Hannah Miao is joining CNBC.com as a contract reporter, working on the markets team with John Melloy. Hannah started with the company last September as an intern writing for CNBC.com’s politics and health teams.

Previously, she worked as a marketing intern at The New York Times and NBCUniversal and also freelanced for INDY Week and Cleveland Scene. Hannah is a 2021 graduate of Duke University, where she majored in public policy and won the Joel Fleishman Distinguished Scholar Award.

In her free time, Hannah enjoys going to art museums, seeing plays and solving mini crosswords.
