CNBC.com hires cybersecurity reporter, copy editor

CNBC.com has hired two new editorial staffers.

Lynne Pate is joining CNBC.com as a copy editor. Lynne previously spent 17 years at The Star-Ledger in Newark where she served as deputy editor of the Sunday opinion section. While there, she was part of the team that won the paper a Pulitzer for breaking news.

Pate studied journalism and literature at Rutgers University, graduating with high honors. She later earned a master’s degree at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Kate Fazzini is joining CNBC.com to cover cybersecurity and the growing news on corporate hacking, cybercrimes and the effort to keep people’s information private. Kate most recently served as a cybersecurity reporter for The Wall Street Journal and WSJ Pro Cybersecurity, the newspaper’s professional security vertical.

Prior to working as a journalist, she was a principal in the cybersecurity practice at Washington D.C.-based Promontory Financial Group, now a division of IBM. She formerly served as a vice president in cybersecurity operations at JPMorgan Chase, working at its New York-based security operations center. She serves as an adjunct professor of cybersecurity in the applied intelligence program at Georgetown University and has also served as an adjunct professor at University of Maryland, teaching cybersecurity for business and government.

She is presently writing a book on cybersecurity for Macmillan/St. Martin’s Press. Kate received her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. She holds a master’s degree in cybersecurity from The George Washington University.
