In addition to my responsibilities at CNBC Make It, I recently took on the role of Managing Editor for Acorns Grow. I’m excited to announce that we have begun to build out the editorial team for the site and I’d like to introduce them to you:
Ester Bloom joins as Deputy Managing Editor. For the past two and a half years, she has been a Senior Editor for CNBC Make It, focused on the vertical’s Money content. Previously, Ester was a contributing editor at The Billfold and a contributing writer for The Atlantic. Her work has also appeared in Slate, Salon and Quartz. Ester received her bachelor’s degree in American history and film from Swarthmore College.
Kelli Grant joins the team as Senior Editor. Kelli is no stranger to the CNBC family, having served as a personal finance reporter for CNBC.com over the past five years. Prior to CNBC, she was a reporter for SmartMoney.com – which later folded into MarketWatch – where she helped launch the Deal of the Day brand, building it into one of the site’s most popular features. Kelli received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ithaca College and holds a master’s degree in personal financial planning from Kansas State University. And in 2016, she earned her distinction as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Stephen Parkhurst joins as Senior Video Producer. Most recently, he was a supervising series producer for Insider Inc., responsible for overseeing production on series and long form video content for INSIDER and Business Insider. Stephen has spent the majority of his career as a freelance video producer, director and editor with his work being featured in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, Mashable and New York Daily News, among others. Stephen received his bachelor’s degree in film production from Keene State College.
Sam Becker joins the team as Senior Writer. Previously, he was a financial writer for Stash Invest, a digital-first financial services company. Before that, Sam was a senior writer for The Cheat Sheet where he covered money, personal finance and career strategy. He began his journalism career as an editorial assistant at Seattle Business Magazine. He received his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Washington State University and was a participant in the 2017 CNBC Business News Associate Workshop, a program available at national conventions that is designed to educate aspiring journalists.
Myelle Lansat joins as Writer. Prior to Grow, she was a Your Money intern at Business Insider and freelance reporter forBankrate.com. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Syracuse University where she was an editor, reporter and social media director for the student-run paper, The Daily Orange.
Lisa Ferber joins the team as Copy Editor. Lisa has served as a freelance copy editor and writer over the past 20 years for publishers such as The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, Popular Science, Vogue.com, The Week and Rolling Stone. She received her bachelor’s degree in English literature from Hunter College.
David Fang joins as Producer. Most recently, David was a video producer for Hearst Digital Media. He began his career as a video intern at Business Insider before moving on to an associate producer role. He received his bachelor’s degree from Roehampton University in London and holds a master’s degree in film from Royal Holloway University of London.
Euralis Weekes joins the team as Animator. With 20 years of experience as an animator, she has worked on a variety of projects for brands such as Nickelodeon, Spike TV, CNN, HBO and AMC, winning a handful of Promax and Telly awards along the way. Euralis received her bachelor’s degree in animation and film from the School of Visual Arts.
